    18th C. Louis XV Bureau Scriban Bibliotic Secretary Cabinet Mahogany Antiques LA .An important rare and Tall Scribing bibliotic secretaire Library desk of a Gentleman or a Lady.  Enclosing fitted interior incorporating pigeonholes, hinged compartments.

    Outstanding arch top Cornice Molded with raised and recessed, Two front upper library doors Symmetrical with beautiful Hand Metal work of the period.  all present and well preserved in a formidable condition, 8 apparent drawers in middle cabinet + 4 Large bottom Drawers . incredible attention and craftsmanship and they are all very well fitted. with all original hardware hinges handles and plaques. As seen in the closeup pictures the signs of the centuries are apparent but minor considering such a large piece of furniture , such as cracks chips losses , some tightening, with multiple keys and locks . etc.. But overall outstanding condition , at the lower part it looks like a hardware is missing, that’s not the case, we have it , just needs to be mounted in place. I must say, this desk is incredibly well preserved for its age. the fitting work and the design at that level of sophistication and craftsmanship. the result that could only be achieved by big Masters. this type of furniture at that level are mostly kept with the old families, rarely to see them on the market.     It has the ink stamp of the sale of the “chateau de La Bastide Murrat in “Perigord” which was the old

    Name for the “Dordogne” area.

    The sale of this piece took place in 1928 , they sold the personal furniture of the Prince Murat

    No Reservation .

    An important and rare Period desk with a Pull out drawers and Enclosing fitted interior drawers with incredible Bronze work. Amboyna wood The name derived from Ambon Island in Indonesia that was a Dutch Colony , where much of the figured wood is believed to have been initially exported and it used to take many years before the special material gets to Europe in order to make the very high end and refined furniture .     The unique period of early 1800’s of King Charles X  is easily recognized by its fine marquetry of light lemon wood The decoration forms motifs of very fine foliage , windings , nets of fretwork frames, rosettes and stylized palmettes . Goddesses putties and multiple tableaux all around this desk table. Topped with an even more beautiful Carved Stone ONYX Translucent light honey Gold and Green hue .

    During King Charles X Light colored woods , yellow or bleached , such as lemon tree , maple , sycamore, orange tree , plane wood and the delicate gnarl of elm, of ash or Ambon wood were dominant. Marquetry was minimal : inlays of amaranth , de holly or rosewood , dark woods that contrast with the lighter hues.
