Grand Tour sculpture statue of a nude youthful Dionysus
posing nude man .The head bent down wearing
a crown of ivy and has a fawn-skin knotted over his left shoulder. Laced
leather boots great detail. The figure stands atop a Carved Stone base. A very
decorative bronze displays a beautiful patina. The sculpture originates from
the late 19th century, a possible souvenir from the grand Tour, a token of the
enthusiasm for neo-classical culture of the time. The Grand Tour had the
effect, among other things, of bringing the high society of Northern Europe
into contact with ancient art and helped spread Palladianism and neoclassicism.
