This is a Royal
piece of Furniture. Attaching the Fiche Stating : Straight up secretary of a
monumental Aspect Made from the thuya burl , the interior built with Sycamore
and Darkened wood

sliding passages, the interior side very well refinished. With exceptional
Quality of the
veins of the Thuya “La Loupe”
The furniture made
of the loupe or burl of thuya , they were commissioned for “ Grande Commande ”
The high End. And
every aspect of this piece confirms it.
Provenance:
It has the ink
stamp of the sale of the “chateau de La Bastide Murrat in “Perigord” which was
the old
Name for the
“Dordogne” area.
The sale of this
piece took place in 1928 , they sold the personal furniture of the Prince Murat
No Reservation .
An
important and rare Period desk with a Pull out drawers and Enclosing fitted interior
drawers with incredible Bronze work. Outstanding light in color and fine in
texture rare Wood . all original hardware and plaques . the entirety of this
art work rare Desk to a category of its own.
As seen in the closeup pictures the signs of the centuries are apparent
but minor such as cracks chips losses
etc.. But overall outstanding condition. You are welcome to send your
expert to examine it in person.
we
have seen our fair share of incredible furniture of the 15th to 19th Century
periods. this Desk is incredibly well preserved for its age and use . the Ink
from the letters written over the centuries on the interior of the drawer, the fitting work and the design we have rarely
encountered any at that level of sophistication and craftsmanship . the result
that could only be achieved by big Masters comparable to what was done for the
Grande Commande . this type of furniture at that level are mostly kept with the
old families, rarely to see them on the market. I have some other high end
chateau inventory and rare pieces of the periods as well .
This
versatile piece of history will be a fine desk for a gentleman’s or a lady’s
office . In a library , living room , study , or executive desk .
